This segment, which will become a semi-regular part of our services at five30, will provide an opportunity to learn about the heroes of the Christian faith, from all generations of church history.
We do not honour them in this way to idolise or place them on pedestals.
Rather, we do this to honour them and to learn from them and, hopefully, to see them as inspirations for our own faith journey and ministry.
We also want to promote the attitude, at five30, that these heroes, both past and present, aren’t targets for us ‘common Christians’ to try to undermine or judge, but that, though they are sinful and frail like we are, there is a lot we can learn from them.
And that, if they are still with us, we should be praying for them in their ministry.
